Mirabeau, Victor Riqueti, marquis de

   economist
   Born in Pertuis, Vaucluse, Victor Riqueti, marquis de Mirabeau was a representative of the Physio-cratic theory of economics (see François quesnay) and author of L'Ami des hommes ou Traité sur la population (1756). He took a position against the method and organization of tax collecting in France (fermiers généraux) in his Théorie de l'impôt. Riqueti, marquis de Mirabeau, was the father of honoré-gabriel riqueti, count de mirabeau.
